President’s Message – November 2018

Dear Members,

Many VET practitioners are often contemplating the demands of the question of how they maintain their professional standards through workplace activities and professional development.

A project that was undertaken by the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) highlighted the many avenue and options for learning that exists for VET practitioners. The final model of Professional Standards for VET Practitioners was released following extensive consultation in regional and metropolitan areas, with teachers, trainers, assessors and administrators.

The work was never taken up by the QCT, though having seen a similar piece of work being applied in the UK with the Society for Education and Training it does provide a basis for some further discussion for members to gain professional recognition through AVETPA.

If you would like to consider the attached document and offer and any feedback on the standards and their alignment with the three domains we can begin to formalise a system for members.

Regards,
Dr Shayne Baker OAM
National President
