Dr. Malcolm Cathcart

Deputy President & Chair of Subcommittees

Dr Malcolm Cathcart (RTO Owner & CEO of the Australian School of Business & Law). Malcolm possesses a unique capability which has been developed through a career of ‘Work Based Learning in Action’. This capability has been developed by integrating his varied career work with a wide range of formal study (part time study equivalent to 14 years of full time study) and then further integrating this by overlaying teaching, consulting and advising within both the higher education and vocational education segments. In the last twenty years Malcolm has focused his work on linking and bridging the educational gap between the vocational and higher educational sectors in Australia.

It was within this particular work journey that Malcolm undertook his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) studies with his dissertation topic set within ‘organisational learning’   Research Question: ‘How do franchised business units in Australia use organisational learning strategies to develop their strategic capability with a view to gaining competitive advantage?’

At a glance Malcolm’s key educational professional activities/achievements are found in the following points:

  • Formal Educational study in support and development of his career has been achieved all via part time studies both in a face-to-face and an external mode. Malcolm has completed some five higher education degrees and six vocational education qualifications at some seven educational institutions.
